Maintenance Procedures
Clean the Solid State Detector Pins
The Solid State Detector pins can be worn down over time after repeated contact. Debris from the sample
can also accumulate on the tips. Checking and cleaning the pins periodically is important because they
must make good contact with the surface of the sample to obtain accurate results. If the pins are not making
good contact or if the tips are not the correct shape (see
), you will see excess noise on the signal.

Unlock the Solid State Detector locking arm by turning the knob counter-clockwise until the arm loosens.
