Sylantro 4-Port Adapter Installation Guide 2-3
Preparing for 4-port Adapter Installation
2
System Requirements
This section describes all of the customer site requirements for the adapter including
the site power, cabling, and network requirements.
Site Power Requirements
The AC source site requirements are as follows:
■
Use a power source of 120 AC @ 0.5 Amps.
■
Overcurrent protection devices are recommended.
■
Ensure that the appliance inlet on the rear of the adapter remains accessible after
installation.
Network Requirements
The end customer must have a 10/100-BaseT network connection routable to the
service provider to support the voice services offered by the Sylantro system.
The network connection to the service provider can be any type of IP connection,
such as fiber channel, one or more DSL lines, or a T1 line.
If the network connection to the service provider is a DSL modem or a single T1 line,
a conversion device is deployed by the service provider at the customer site. The
conversion device should be connected directly to an Ethernet switch within the
customer site.
Within the customer site, the adapter is connected to the Ethernet switch closest to
the entry point. All of the Sylantro-hosted telephones are then connected to the
adapter using a standard telephone cable.
Note:
Overcurrent devices must meet applicable national and local
electrical safety codes.
Note:
Do not install the adapter behind a customers network firewall.
Firewalls typically prevent the transmission of voice traffic.
