Configuring the Adapter
Using a Telephone to Configure an Adapter
To configure the adapter using a telephone, make sure at least one phone is
connected to the adapter and that the adapter is powered on. You can then enter the
required IP address information that enables the adapter to communicate with the
Control Server and obtain its configuration.
To configure the IP address using a telephone, follow these steps:
1.
Lift the handset of a telephone that is connected to the adapter, or press
Spkr
to
go off hook and listen to the telephone. You should hear a fast busy tone.
2.
On the telephone, enter the following password:
* # * # 1 * 2 * 3
.
The display shows only *’s as you enter the password. You will hear a stutter
dial tone to confirm that you have entered the configuration mode and the
display shows CFG MAIN MENU.

Enter each of the commands and the associated number shown in Table 3-1
given to you by the service provider followed by the pound (
#
) key. If you make
a mistake or see ERROR on the display, press
# #
and repeat the previous
command.
For example, enter 01 (you will hear dial tone) then 172*16*128*160#. This
entry means the IP address of the adapter is 172.16.128.160. The display shows
the digits as you enter them.
Caution:
Do not connect the adapter to the network until you have
completed configuring the adapter address as described in this section.
Note:
Enter digits slowly so they are properly shown on the display.
