Verifying and Troubleshooting the 4-port Adapter Installation
4-4 Sylantro 4-Port Adapter Installation Guide
Diagnosing Electrical Problems
Electrical problems are typically characterized by the lack of LED activity and
power. If you do not have power to the adapter, try the following:
■
Verify that the power cord is connected as described in “Connecting Phones to
the Adapter” on page 3-2.
■
Verify that there is power to the outlet and surge suppression device by plugging
in a known good device.
If none of these solutions works, contact your service provider.
Diagnosing Signal Ethernet Input/Output Problems
You can view the status of the Ethernet connection on the adapter using the Ethernet
LEDs on the front of the chassis. If the LEDs do not indicate normal activity, or you
cannot make a connection with the Control Server, try one or more of the following:
■
Verify that the Ethernet cable is properly attached to the Ethernet port on the
adapter, as described in “Making the Network Connections” on page 3-10.
■
Replace the Ethernet cable with a known good cable.
■
Connect the adapter to a different network jack at the customer site if one is
available.
■
Repeat the adapter address assignment procedure described in “Configuring the
Adapter” on page 3-5.
If none of these solutions works, contact your service provider.
Diagnosing Telephone Line Problems
To ensure normal on-hook off-hook operation for each port, try one or more of the
following:
■
Verify that the digital adapter is set up for the appropriate number of digital
ports as described in “Connecting Phones to the Adapter” on page 3-2.
■
Verify that the proper extension has been assigned to the correct adapter port as
described in “Assigning Extensions to the Phones” on page 3-11.
■
Replace the telephone connected to a suspected bad port.
If none of these solutions works, contact your service provider.
