3
Connecting Phones to the Digital Adapter
To connect phones to a digital adapter, plug the first phone into the TOSH 1 port and
each subsequent phone to the TOSH 2, TOSH 3, and TOSH 4 ports in this order.
If you need to plug an analog device into the digital adapter, refer to “Setting Up a
Digital Adapter to Support an Analog Device” on page 3-4.
Connecting Phones to the Analog Adapter
To connect analog devices, such as analog phones, modems, and fax machines, to an
analog adapter, plug the analog device into the POTS 1, POTS 2, POTS 3, and
POTS 4 ports in any order.
Warning:
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless
the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
Caution:
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
Tip:
After plugging in the phones, place a piece of tape over the disabled
ports on the adapter. For example, if four phones are connected to the
adapter, place a piece of tape over the POTS port so the customer does not
try to plug an analog or digital device into this port.
