Introduction to the Sylantro Communications System

The back of the digital adapter is shown in Figure 1-4.

The following ports are the same on both the analog and the digital adapter:

One Ethernet 10/100BaseT port for connection to the client network.
■
One RS-232 serial port for configuring the adapter.
In addition, there is a single 50-pin Amphenol connector on the analog adapter for
connecting up to 24 analog devices. On the digital adapter there are three 50-pin
Amphenol connectors for connecting up to 24 digital telephones (eight per
connector).
The cable connected to the adapter is usually wired into a 24-port punch-down
block. Customer telephones are connected to the punch-down block, not directly to
the adapter. This configuration makes moving telephone equipment much easier.
