Configuring the Adapter
Using a Telephone to Configure an Adapter
To configure the adapter using a telephone, you must first connect a telephone to
any port on the adapter and enter a series of numbers. The adapter can then
communicate with the Control Server and obtain its configuration.
To configure the IP address using a telephone, follow these steps:
1.
Connect an analog or digital telephone to any port on the adapter through the
punch-down block.
On a digital telephone with a display, the display prompts you through the
configuration process. When you first connect a digital display phone, the
display phone shows WELCOME TO SYLANTRO SYSTEMS.
You connect an analog telephone to an analog adapter, and a digital telephone
to a digital adapter.

With the adapter powered on, lift the handset or press
Spkr
to go off hook and
listen to the telephone, you should hear a fast busy tone.

On the telephone, enter the following password:
* # * # 1 * 2 * 3
.
The display shows only *’s as you enter the password. You will hear a stutter
dial tone to confirm that you have entered the configuration mode and the
display shows CFG MAIN MENU.
Caution:
Do not connect the adapter to the network until you have
completed configuring the adapter address as described in this section.
Note:
Enter digits slowly so they are properly shown on the display.
