Installing the 24-Port Adapter
3-16 Sylantro 24-Port Adapter Installation Guide
When adapters are connected to a DSL network, the incoming DSL line is connected
directly to a DSL modem. A connection is then made from the DSL modem to an
Ethernet switch using a Category 5 cable. In some cases, the DSL modem can
contain an internal hub; in this case, the adapter should be connected directly to one
of the hub ports within the DSL modem.
Table 3-5 shows the signals for the Ethernet port connector on the adapter.
Completing the Installation
Plug the adapter back into the power source. After all of the configuration numbers
are entered, the network connection is made, and the adapter is powered on, the
adapter connects to the Control Server and obtains its configuration information.
You can monitor the status LEDs on the front of the chassis to determine if a
connection is made, see Table 1-2 on page 1-8. If the LEDs do not indicate that a
connection is established with the Control Server, see the troubleshooting
information in Chapter 4, “Verifying and Troubleshooting the 24-Port Adapter
Installation.”
Note:
Make sure the service provider network connection is already
installed and verified before the adapter is installed.
