Preparing for the 24-Port Adapter Installation

System Requirements

This section describes all of the customer site requirements for the adapter including 
the site power, cabling, and network requirements.

Site Power Requirements

The AC source site requirements are as follows:

■

Use a power source of 120 AC @ 1.2 Amps.

■

Overcurrent protection devices are recommended as part of each system rack. 

■

Use a circuit breaker no larger than 120 VAC, 15A U.S. on the incoming power 
source. 

■

Ensure that the appliance inlet on the rear of the adapter remains accessible after 
installation.

■

Establish the safety earth path by connecting the grounding conductor within 
the AC power cord to a “reliably” earthed socket outlet located near the 
equipment.

Note:

Overcurrent devices must meet applicable national and local 

electrical safety codes, and they must be approved for the intended appli-
cation.

Caution:

External filtering and/or surge suppression devices may be 

required on the power feeds where branch circuit electromagnetic 
characteristics are unknown.
