8 Start-up and maintenance

8.2.6 Basic adjustment for SLS
1. Transport security for the laser rod: Remove the sticker on the cavity.
2. Fiber-optic cable outputs: Remove the stickers.
3. Visually check the optical system for any transport damage.
Remark:
The adjustment is secure during transportation and does not have to be carried out again
8.2.7 Setting up the laser source
1. Laser source in operating position and block wheels.
2. Set up the laser source in accordance with Chapter 5.2 in the operating instructions.
3. Fit beam guide and adjust in accordance with Chapter 10 and 11 of these instructions.
8.2.8 Positioning of the protection devices in the case of a class 4 laser 4
Depending on the already installed processing facility and the surroundings, erect the necessary protec-
tive devices. These in general comprise:
1. Protective walls.
2. Access control, the affixing of warning notices.
3. Protection goggles/glasses as well as possibly protective clothing for persons involved.
4. Beam trapping devices.
Turn key switch «Laser class» to position laser class 4.
WARNING
Visible and invisible laser radiation can be emitted when operating as a class 4
laser.
Avoid irradiation of eyes or skin by direct or indirect radiation..
8.2.9 Switch on the laser and fine-tune it
1. Set the laser parameters for the test, e.g. 1 cs, 1 ms, voltage or peak power for 1 - 2 J.
2. Switch on the laser in accordance with chapter 10 and fine-tune it.
3. For KLS 246 and FLS CL: Produce a spot on photopaper at approximately the double focus di-
stance from the lens. The produced spot has to be symmetrical.
For SLS 200 / 200 CL: Energy comparison with ATP.
8.2.10 Checking the laser source
The laser source has to be checked in accordance with 82.1260-02 Maintenance-Report.
8.2.11 Training
The training of the operating personnel has to be carried out in accordance with the User documenta-
tion.
