Tasks at the end of the working season
Once the planting season has ended, it is necessary to overcome some tasks to the planter,
mostly cleaning. This is to leave the planter ready for the next year´s working season. The
main tasks that should be done are:
1. Cleaning of the seed and fertilizer hoppers.
To do so, it is convenient to remove all seeds and rests of fertilizer, using the cleaning
caps (A) that are indicated in figure 27 and 28.
The seed hopper can be removed from the planting unit for a better cleaning job, or to
have access to the conical gear under it (Driving sprocket pinion). To remove the seed
hopper, the knob under it must be loosened (A-Figure 29).
Following the hopper must be lifted from the front first, and then displaced forward.
2. Remove the plates from the metering system and store them in a dry, safe
place
To protect them from rust, cover them with a thin layer of grease that is to be
removed before use.
3. General cleaning.
Eliminate any mud, dust or dirt on the implement to prevent rust. In case mud, dust or
dirt is not incrusted, blowing is recommended or washing for stick mud or dirt.
4. Gear chains.
Carefully clean all gear chains with kerosene. Ideally, remove the chains and store
them in a kerosene-filled container till next planting season.
