Calibration of seed scrapers and star-shaped ejectors

The triggers: E in figure 38 scrapes the seeds from the plate. If you use calibrated
seeds and the plate corresponds to the type and size of seed, these seed scrapers will avoid
more than one grain per plate hole. The scraper triggers must have a clearance over the
plate of 1mm or less.
Settings are changed by loosening or tightening both setscrews F, Figure 38. These
setscrews are factory assembled so that ejectors press up to half the disc/plate thickness,
which is the proper setting. If any new setting is required, loosen setscrews G to increase
penetration or tighten setscrews G to reduce penetration.

Star-shaped ejectors are assembled as shown in Figure 38. Ejectors can feature two
or three stars to fit two or three hole rows on the seed plate. For sorghum, two stars of ten
peaks are required. For soybean, three are required of 6, 7 and 8 peak stars, assembled as
shown in Figure 39.
 When reassembling the header, check that the anchor pin A, Figure 39 precisely fits
in its place.

Once the change of seed plate is complete, use a wrench to check that the square
shaft turns free. Remove the drive chain from the sprocket. And turn it free. In case you
notice excessive resistance, check no mechanism is jammed and that sprockets and chains
turn smoothly and properly.
