Resetting the System Controller Board
If an System controller hangs, attempt to clear the problem by either
rebooting the SC or doing a setfailover force if the platform has redundant
SCs.
Pressing the reset button will interrupt any running operation on the SC.
Starting with firmware 5.12, we poll the DX and DCDS ASICs for parity
errors. This requires a JTAG scan, since these ASICs don’t have console
bus access.
If you press the reset button in the middle of a JTAG scan, you can corrupt
the internal state of the chip which is being scanned. This can result in the
chip asserting error pause, and therefore killing a running domain.
Caution – With firmware 5.12.x and above, pressing reset will crash any
running domains.
Attempt a reboot or a setfailover force first.
If you must press the reset button, take down any active domains first.
Status LED definition is as per the System Boards.
