Configuring The Platform
All of the platform configuration information is stored on the system
controller. This consists of two types information: parameters specific to
the system controller and parameters specific to the platform.
System Controller Configuration
When initially configuring the Sun Fire platform, the system controller
requires that network and SCPOST parameters be defined. All of the
platform configuration information is stored on the system controller.
●
Set the time-of-day clock
●
Configuring network parameters for the system controller:
The system controller has a RIO controller that houses a 10/100BASE
Ethernet RIO interface (ERI) controller. This ERI controller can be
hooked up into the network to manage the platform and domains.
Like any Ethernet interface, the system controller requires that IP
network parameters be defined.
●
Configuring SCPOST parameters
The system controller performs a diagnostic POST at startup time.
You define the level (depth) of testing during the system controller
setup.
Platform Configuration
After the SCPOST and network parameters have been configured, you
must configure the platform-specific parameters. All of the platform
configuration information is stored on the system controller. Some
configuration changes you will make include:
●
Identifying a system
loghost
The system controller does not have permanent storage. It stores
errors, warnings, modifications, and other messages that are server-
specific logging information in a circular queue. To enhance
accountability, messages are sent to a log host.
