1. Select Bipolar Method.
2. Verify or select the Bipolar Mode and desired power setting using the Tap-a-
Tool™
software feature or UP/DOWN arrows on the touchscreen.
3. Engage Standby Mode by pressing the standby button on the touchscreen display or
gi4000 footswitch.
4. Attach a compatible bipolar instrument to the bipolar receptacle.
5. Attach the lavage pump tubing to the flushing/water port on the bipolar endoscopic
probe per manufacturer instructions.
6. Insert the bipolar instrument in the endoscope accessory channel.
7. Exit Standby Mode by pressing the touchscreen display or button on the gi4000
footswitch.
8. Confirm settings on touchscreen before proceeding with procedure.
9. Deliver power by engaging the power pedal on the footswitch.
10.2.6 Argon Method
1. Select Argon Method.
2. Check the amount of argon gas in the argon gas bottle.
•
Verify the status of the argon gas bottle icon on the touchscreen display.

If the argon bottle is red or flashing, vent the tank to empty and replace with a
new argon gas bottle. Reference section

3. Engage Standby Mode by pressing the standby button on the touchscreen display or
gi4000 footswitch.
NOTE:
A patient dispersive electrode is not required for bipolar procedures.
The Pad Safe System (PSS) Indicator Lights will no longer illuminate when the
user switches to the Bipolar Method.
