3-point Stepping Controller
The 3-point stepping controller uses the manipulated variable output Y of the linear controller as the basis for a subsequent
“Running-on Control”. Using the running-on control function, the calculated Y value is assumed via the “Motor Clockwise”
and “Motor Counter-clockwise” function outputs, the configuration value “Motor Running Time of 0..100 %” being used as
the basis for calculation.
The PID control parameters are therefore fully valid for the 3-point stepping controller. As Value Y only a “Relative Value”
between -100 and +100 % is calculated (difference between the last and the actual Y value), because the operating point is
stored with the motor position. The “Relative Y Value” is driven to zero with the motor running-on.
Where the stepping motor includes a feedback potentiometer for detection of the motor position, the potentiometer value
can be fed back via any actual value (Parameter 30); however, it is used only for displaying. If the X-tracking function should
be used, a potentiometer actual value is necessary.
ATTENTION!
Y hysteresis must be matched to motor inertia.
The 3-point stepping controller operates with a scan rate of 0.1 sec (i.e. the smallest step is an impulse of 0.1 sec). If the
motor cannot register such short intervals, the Y hysteresis must be selected in an appropriate manner.
Example:
Motor running time = 60 sec
Smallest motor step = 0.25 sec
Step of 0.1 sec =
10
sec
60
%
100
x
= 0.17%
Step of 0.25 sec =
1,
0
25
,
0
x 0.17 = 0.43 %
Y hysteresis must be matched to motor inertia.
3-point Controller
For a 3-point controller (controller type A and controller type B are
both
on “2-point”) without a PID algorithm the switching
between heating and cooling is effected via the set/actual value comparison. The switching distance defines the distance
between both operating ranges heating and cooling. Here the ON/OFF-turning points are confirmed for each operating range
with the hysteresis for heating and cooling.
