b) Troubleshooting Using Self-Diagnosis Mode
1. PC Connection
Turn off the power of the GY-2120 and terminal before connecting the PC.
Connect the PC to the RS-232C port (D-Sub 25 pins, female, 9600 bps, 8-bit/character, non parity,
and 1 stop bit) on the rear panel of the GY-2120. Set SET UP switch 8 to OFF.
For the pin assignment of the connector and the connection connector, refer to Section 1-4.
2. Self-Diagnosis Mode Activation
Start up a terminal emulation software on the PC. Then turn on the power of the GY-2120. Enter four
characters “DIAG” from the PC. Prompt “DIAGNOSTIC =>” is then displayed on the screen of the
PC.

If Prompt is not displayed, confirm the RS-232C port setting (on the PC side) and connection. If no
abnormality is found in the RS-232C port setting and connection, replace the FM board.
. Enter four charactors “HELP”, description of menu is displayed.
3. SCSI CPU Check
Enter “11” as the menu number, and press the ENTER key. (Perform the All Check item in a SCSI
CPU block.)

If any of the Work Memory Check, ROM Check, and 2-Port Communication Check items is NG,
replace the MA-83 board.
. If any of the LCD Check and LED Check items is NG, replace the DSP-78 board. If the error cannot
be restored by replacement, replace the MA-83 board.
4. DRV CPU Check
Enter “21” as the menu number. (Perform the All Check item in a SYS CPU block.)

If any of the Memory Check and ROM Check items is NG, replace the MA-83 board.

If the PIO Check item is NG, replace the MA-83 board.
5. Loopback Check
Enter “31” as the menu number. (Perform the All Check in an Loopback block.)
. If the LP-3 Check item is NG, replace the MA-83 board.
. If any of the LP-2 and LP-1 Check items is NG, replace the EQ-66 board.
6. Self-Diagnosis Mode Termination
Enter four characters “QUIT”. The self-diagnostic mode is then terminated.
