Error code Description Remedies (probable causes)
1x46 More than 2-bit error occurred in the memory.
1x5C Cassette in GY-2120 is a write-protected state. (Write-protect tab was pressed down)
1x7A Read or write at the tape end. Check GY-2120.
1x7B Reach to the tape end during reading or writing.
1x7C Receive REW at the tape top.
1x7E Different from the completed state when tape operations ended.
1x7F Waiting for start/end of instructed tape operations and timed out.
1xBB Cannot eject the cassette during execution of servo adjustment/check
command.
1xCy Error occured in initial check (y; initial check error code). Replace MA-83 board.
2x01 The slack of the tape is detected during threading or unthreading. Refer to Section 6-3-3.
2x02 The slack of the tape is detected in search, cue-up, fast forward or rewind
mode.
2x03 The slack or breaking of the tape is detected in recording or playback mode,
or either of the lock of the supply or take-up reel is detected.
2x04 Tape does not run at the speed of designation in fast forward or rewind mode.
2x05 FG count of the supply or take-up reel is out of specification at the
diagnostics before loading (in pulling down the cassette compartment).
2x06 Excessive tension is detected in recording or playback mode.
2x07 It is detected that the capstan does not rotate at the speed of designation in
play or search mode. Otherwise, FG count of capstan is out of specification.
2x08 The number of revolutions of drum motor is out of specification.
2x09 It is detected that threading or unthreading is not completed.
2x0A It is detected that the tape top process at the thread is not completed,
therefore threading can not be done.
2x10 Condensation is detected.
2x11 The tape top or and sensor operation is defective.
2x12 The tape top sensor operation is defective.
2x13 The tape end sensor operation is defective.
2x14 Detected overheat. Problems were also detected in the cooling fan motor.
2x20 It is detected that cassette up/down operation is not completed.
2x21 It is detected that driving of the L position to S position or the S position to
L position in the reel table is not completed.
2x22 The operation of the L/S position sensor of the reel table is defective.
2x91 Servo reference signal (VD) is defective.
2x93 The interface between SV (IC806 on the MA-83 board) and EQ (IC600 on
the EQ-66 board) is defective.
2x97 The operational defect of the NV-RAM on the MS-54 board.
“x” mark in the error code indicates an arbitrary number.
Any number can be assigned to “x”
When this error code is indicated on the LCD.
