How to carry out inspections
S
Attention!
Items with
loose belts
or
loose packaging
and objects, which
cannot be placed firmly
on the convey-
ors as well as all kinds of
clothes
must be placed into appropriate
plastic containers
(see below) to
avoid damages! The objects
must not move
during the inspection. If required, use plastic containers
with
structured foam insert
!

S
Attention!
Short
or
flat
items have to be put into
plastic containers
(see below) to be sure they will be detected
and scanned even if placed in an unfavourable position! Alternatively, the X-ray unit can be operated
in
Continuous scanning
mode
(
F
1-53)!

S
Attention!
Keep in mind that the material and structure of the plastic containers mentioned above may affect
the X-ray unit's
material detection characteristics
! Inappropriate plastic containers may also cause
electrostatic charging
! Therefore, contact your
sales partner
when choosing suitable plastic contain-
ers.

In order to be able to assign X-ray images to scanned
baggage or freight items later on, you should keep
dis-
tances of 20cm
between subsequent items.
A
Caution!
If the
automatic return mode*
is used, place a new object for further scanning on the conveyor only if
the previous object has
run out
again at the input and you have
removed it
from the conveyor belt!
If you do not comply with this,
objects
can
drop down
from the conveyor belt and thus be
destroyed
,
and also
injure
you or other persons!

I
When continuously scanning items
which have been placed very close to
one another, the image quality is re-
duced after some time. In this case, it
will be sufficient to keep a distance of
at
least 50cm once
in order to optimize the
image quality again.
S
Attention!
Adhering to the minimum distances is particularly required when using the optional functions to
store
,
transfer
and
X-ray images; the distance is required to separate the images of sub-
sequent bag or freight items from one another!
The X-ray images of baggage or freight items that have been placed
too close
to one another will
be unintentionally comprised
in one single
X-ray image!
In the case of an X-ray unit equipped with a
radioactivity detector*
and if radioactivity is detected,
the X-ray images of all objects adjacent to the one in which radioactivity has been detected will be
also marked by frames, if such objects have been placed
too close
together on the conveyor belt!
