EQM Control Model
EQM Conditioning Principles
The pressure difference drives moisture either into the air or into the kernel:
•
When the pressure in the air is greater, the grain gets wetter
•
When the pressure in the air is less, the grain gets drier
•
When the pressures are the same, it’s called EQM
5.
Airflow and EQM
When aeration occurs and water is being removed from the grain, the rate is determined by the airflow and the
temperature and relative humidity of the air.
•
The temperature determines how much water each pound of air can carry.
•
The relative humidity dictates how much water each pound of air is already carrying and how much more
water is left to be absorbed into that same air.
Relative humidity and temp create vapor pressure in the air
Moisture content and temp create vapor pressure from the kernel
