Thermostat Control Model
Operating Instructions
WARNING!
Although these controls are called “automatic” they do
not
sample the grain for proper moisture
content! They are designed to cycle the heater on and off to the set of conditions that
you
select. It does
not
adjust the heater gas pressure to changing ambient temperatures or changing airflows.
Responsibility for the
grain conditions is yours.
The STC-100 thermostat control contains a thermostat with a temperature range from 70
℉
(21
℃
) to 200
℉
(93
℃
). The control is designed to close a set of electrical contacts when the temperature falls below the “set”
point, thus causing the heater to operate. If your set point is lower than the ambient temperature at start up, the
heater will not fire. After determining your temperature setting, and adjusting thermostat to reflect that, you are
ready to begin.
Heater Start Up
1.
Always start fan first according to separate instructions in respective manual, checking to be sure heaters 120
volt power supply is interlocked with fan.
2.
Open all fuel sources from tank to heater.
3.
Turn the heater thermostat all the way up.
4.
Start heater by moving the selector switch found on side of heater control box to the “ON” position. A 45
second delay will occur as the fan purges the heater of any fuel vapor.
5.
Green light located on side of heater control box will come on indicating solenoid valve, Fenwal control, and
ignition/flame sense rod are energized. Heater will light and fire at this time.
6.
Verify that thermometer in the STC-100 control has stabilized, Note: It should not take longer than a few
minutes for the temperature to stabilize. Once stabilized, turn the thermostat to your desired setting. Watch
several cycles to insure heater is operating within the setting you have selected. The heater should cycle to
maintain your setting. If you feel that heater is cycling too often, check to be certain air is moving through the
thermostat control and out the bottom. Without airflow through the thermostat control, reaction time and
temperature range will be excessive.
Caution:
Do not adjust heater regulator. Regulator has been preset at factory. Higher than necessary gas
pressure setting will only result in shorter “on” cycles and will not dry your grain any faster.
7.
Watch several cycles to insure the heater is operating within the setting you have selected
Heater Shutdown
1.
Whenever shutting down your fan & heater system, always close the fuel source at the tank, draining the
lines, allow the heaters safety system to detect no flame and lock itself out.
2.
After Step 1 has been completed
- turn the selector switch found on side of heater control box to the “OFF”
position.
3.
Shut down the fan according to separate instructions in respective manual.
