The Starter Kit allows individual room temperature control of one
or two zones with up to six SSA955 radiator control actuators
(KIT911 includes one actuator, KIT914 includes 4 actuators).
The room temperature for zone 1 is measured by the device
QAW912. The room temperature for zone 2 is measured by the
internal sensor of the first SSA955, which is bound with zone 2.
A heating request can be sent to the central heating system by
means of the optional radio socket adapter KRF960 or the heating
circuit controller RRV912.
When expanding a system using a Synco living central apartment
unit, all devices in the Starter Kit can be used except for the
QAW912.
Mounting
See Figures

Switch on devices
2
+
36
The devices are automatically switched on as soon as the
batteries are inserted. This is followed by a short test of the bat-
tery capacity.
For the device
QAW912
the full display
30
is displayed for two
seconds. The low-battery symbol appears if the batteries are low.
In the case of the control actuator
SSA955
the LED lights in green
for two seconds during the battery test. The LED goes red for two
seconds if the batteries are low.
The LED starts flashing green as soon as the actuator is ready to
make the connection.
The actuator must be fitted to a valve to ensure calibration is
carried out prior to establishing the connection (otherwise an
error message would be displayed).
In the case of a device already connected, the control
actuator checks its setting as either lead controller (LC) or
parallel actuator (PA). If set as lead controller, the LED
flashes red and green alternately three times. If set as paral-
lel actuator, the LED does not light up. After that, the device
assumes normal operation.
Select the commissioning mode
See Figures
6
and
7
on page 3
6
By briefly pressing the function button
F
the room unit
changes to the commissioning mode, and symbol appears on
the display. The first operating line displayed varies according to
the current operating and error status.
7
The rotary knob
3
can be used to select the required operat-
ing line.
Pressing briefly mode button
1
causes the device to return to
normal operation.
Bind SSA955 radiator control actuators
See Figures
8
to
14
on pages 3 - 4
Zone 1 uses the temperature sensor of the room unit.
Zone 2 uses the internal temperature sensor of the control
actuator first connected to zone 2 (LC). The sensors of the
other parallel actuators (PA) are not considered.
To be able to assign control actuators to the second zone,
the room type of zone 2 must first be set using operating
line 52 (refer to "Settings in commissioning mode").
Control actuators are assigned to a zone as follows:
8
Select operating line 53 on the device (54 for zone 2). The
programming symbol flashes; "conn" is displayed.
9
Press the Timer/Prog button
2
briefly (the radio symbol
flashes).
10
Press the function button
F
on the SSA955 to bind (for
longer than 5 seconds).
11
While the devices are making contact, "Proc" is displayed.
After room unit detects and connects the control actuator, an
acoustic signal is emitted, and the number of the connected de-
vice (d1..d7) and its function (LC for lead controller, PA for parallel
actuator) are displayed.
The control actuator restarts and automatically starts self-calibra-
tion after successful binding. The device is now connected and
performs normal operation.
12
Other actuators in the same zone can be directly connected
with
10
.
If binding with the room unit was unsuccessful, the LED
changes from blinking (regular pattern) to flashing
(accelerated pattern) after 1 minute (status indication for un-
connected operation). "Fail" is displayed on the room unit
13
. The display shows "Full"
14
when the maximum num-
ber of control actuators for the room unit is reached.
The binding process is completed by pressing the Timer/Prog
button
2
on the room unit, or after 4 minutes elapse.
To bind control actuators to the other zone, start at step
8
again.
Bind a device for heating requests
See Figures
8
to
16
on pages 3 - 4
A device for forwarding a heating request (KRF960, RRV912) is
connected analogously to
8
to
11
, but using operating line 55 of
the room unit and the function button
F
of the device to bind
(
15
and
16
).
The operating lines for the heating request (60
-
63) are not
displayed until a corresponding device is bound.
16
On the
RRV912
, relay output Q1 or Q2 must be selected with
the channel selection button
CH
for the binding. After this selec-
tion, press function button
F
on the RRV912 (for more than
5 seconds) until the LED flashes.
Radio connection test
17
Use the rotary knob
3
to select operating line 56 and acti-
vate it with Timer/Prog button
2
(the radio symbol flashes).
18
Briefly press function button
F
on the device to test (
16
in
the case of the RRV912, first select the appropriate relay output
with the channel selection button
CH
).
Three signal tones are emitted on the room unit, and the device
number (d1..d7) is displayed if the connection test is ok.
For an SSA955, both zone number (1 or 2) and function (LC or
PA) are also displayed
19
.
In the case of an RRV912, the symbol for the heating require-
ments is also shown
20
.
To test the connection to another device, press its function button
briefly.
The radio connection test is ended by pressing the Timer/Prog
button
2
, or after 4 minutes elapse.
The KRF960 does not support a radio connection test. The
functionality of this device can be checked using a wiring test
(operating line 60).
Display device list/delete devices
21
Use the rotary knob to select operating line 57 and confirm
with the Timer/Prog button. If no devices are connected, the fol-
lowing is displayed: "- - - -"
22
. Otherwise the first device in the
device list is shown.
The rotary knob can be used to scroll through devices d1..d7 (for
example, d1 as lead controller
23
, d2 as parallel actuator
24
, or
d5 as heating request
25
).
If the selected device is an SSA955 or RRV912, the SW version
of the device is displayed alternately with the device display
above
26
.
A device can be deleted from the list by selecting it with the rotary
knob and then pressing function button
F
(for at least 5 seconds).
During this time "del:" and the device number are displayed (for
example, delete device d1
27
).
