Annex
SSI version (DME5000-XX1) or Hiperface version (DME5000-XX7):
Tracking measured values during SSI-/Hiperface operation via the multifunctional outputs
MF1/MF2 set as monitor. An additional adapter cable is required for Hiperface (available
on request).
PROFIBUS version (DME5000-XX2) or DeviceNetversion (DME5000-XX4):
Tracking measured values during PROFIBUS-/DeviceNet operation via the RS-422
interface.
DeviceNet version (DME5000-XX5):
Interface adapter not usable.
Example
Connection tracking operation: The frequency converter receives the measured values via
the SSI interface of the DME5000, measured values and parameters are sent to the
laptop via the monitor interface MF1/MF2.

Sleep Mode
The sleep mode function can be used to switch the DME5000 laser off and on via input
MF1. With the laser off, the DME is in standby operation; the ready display turns off, the
measured value "0" is output.
To monitor the function, MF2 can signal readiness with the laser activated with "Ready".
For the PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and RS-422 versions, the sleep mode can also be activated
via the interface.
13.6
RS-422 Interface
The serial data transfer of the DME5000-XX3 makes it possible to read the measured
values and other defined operating data. All data is transferred as ASCII characters
included in <STX> (0x02) and <ETX> (0x03).
Operating data (like the internal temperature) are transferred on a request command.
Measured values are transferred in a continuous data flow (continuous mode) or on
request only (request mode).
The standard settings of the DME5000 are "request mode". Commands are only accepted
in "request mode".
