be boiled off. This liquid/vapor is boiled to become a superheated gas in the evaporator and
returns to the compressor to start the cycle over again.
Due to the nature of ASHP ice will form on the evaporator coil at low temperature operation.
However, the RED heat pump has been designed to defrost this ice, clearing the evaporator
coil quickly and efficiently. A reversing valve is used to switch the direction of refrigerant flow
around the closed circuit meaning that the iced-up evaporator coil becomes warms melting
the ice which drains away down the condensate drain pipe.
