Items explained as from Figure 21
a.
Serial connection to heat pump
–
this is wired straight from the heat pump serial
connection as described in 7.3.2. The serial connection must be a three-core shielded
cable of minimum 20-25 AWG.
b.
However if a Modbus enabled manifold is installed the Serial connection from the heat
pump must first be wired to the distribution manifold and from the distribution
manifold to the serial port (1) of the controller (see Figure 10 and Figure 11)
c.
Power supply to board
–
supply cable should be suitable to supply 6 amps to the board
and any
axillary’s that are required.
d.
Switched outputs
–
the board has several relays which can switch a common supply
to send power to pumps/valves. The first block of outputs will switch when required
to power the backup oil/gas boiler, the DHW pump/valve and a programable auxiliary.
Please ensure that the common supply is rated to power everything that is wired in
this block simultaneously. Each relay can switch 4 amps. If more than 4 amps
switching is required a secondary relay must be installed to switch the higher load.
e.
Immersion heater output
–
a single switched output and common input is available
for the immersion heater supply. The board mounted relay can switch only 4 amps
and hence this must be wired to a larger contactor/relay which is capable to carry the
load to the immersion heater.
f.
Heating zone outputs
–
Additional valves and pumps for each zone can also be wired
to this relay if the combined load is less than 4 amps.
g.
Heat demand inputs
–
each zone must have a separate zero-volt switching relay /
room thermostat heat demand signal to the control board. During commissioning the
engineer will select which type of zone control is installed for the system.
h.
This DHW temperature T8 connection polarity is not important. Distribution manifold
plumbing and wiring connections
The distribution manifold comes pre-wired and plumbed with circulating pumps and can only
be configured for each zone as per Figure 22. Please pay attention to the below requirements.
7.4.3
Hydraulic connections
a.
The flow and return connections to the distribution manifolds must be fitted with a
full flow ball type isolation valve so that the heat pump can be disconnected from the
distribution manifolds. The isolation valve can must be no less than DIN 25.
b.
The flow and return heat pumps connections are sized for 28mm copper compression
fitting.
c.
The zones are all pumped and must be plumed with a pipe sized according to the heat
load. The pipe from the zone distribution manifold to each individual space heating
zone manifold should be no less than DIN 25.
d.
A drain valve should be installed somewhere at the lowest point of the system which
allows for the draining of the manifold. This maybe at the lower of the two
½”
bosses
at the manifold ends.
e.
Th
e second ½”
boss can be used to fit the sealed system kit but an auto air vent must
be fitted on the highest point of the system.
