: If the knurled knob is not removed when the EZ1 Advanced XL is switched on, error
code 15 will appear because the worktable will not be able to move into its starting position.
For information on error codes, see Section 7.2.
Note
: It is recommended to save the original packaging material for later transportation of the EZ1
Advanced XL.
4.3.2
Installing the EZ1 Advanced XL
1.
Adjust the fuse box if necessary (Section 4.2, page 30).
2.
Connect the EZ1 Advanced XL to the power cord (Section 4.2.3, page 30).
3.
Connect the handheld bar code reader to the EZ1 Advanced XL (Section 4.3.5, page 37).

Connect the PC to the EZ1 Advanced XL. Use the RS-232 cable and plug it into the RS-232
connector labeled “PC/Printer” at the rear of the instrument (Section 3.1.5, page 22). Make
sure that the connector is secured with the 2 screws provided.
Note
: If your PC does not have a RS-232 port, the instrument can be connected to a USB port
using the USB–RS-232 adapter delivered with the EZ1 Advanced XL. To use this adapter, it is
necessary to install a driver; see Section 4.4.2 for more information.
5.
If you want to use an external printer as the output device for the report file, connect the
printer to the EZ1 Advanced XL (Section 4.3.4, page 37).
6.
Insert an EZ1 Advanced XL Card into the EZ1 Advanced XL Card slot (Section 5.2.1,
page 46).
7.
Switch on the EZ1 Advanced XL.
Always make sure that the door is closed before switching on the EZ1 Advanced XL. During
operation, the door is locked magnetically by a solenoid. During start up, this solenoid is
tested in order to check its functionality. The door must be closed for this check.
