5.7.2
Switching off the UV lamps
CAUTION
Damage to the instrument
The UV lamps need a minimum switch-on time of 20 minutes. Do not interrupt a
UV light cycle before 20 minutes have passed since it will reduce the lamp’s
lifetime.
During a manual UV run, you can cancel the run by pressing the
STOP
key. The following screen
appears.
Attention: UV run
not finished.
START: Continue
STOP: Abort
Press
STOP
again to cancel the UV run. Alternatively, pressing
START
will cause the UV run to
continue.
5.7.3
Lifetime reminder of the UV lamps
The lifetime of the UV lamps is limited to 1500 cycles. The instrument will remind you when the UV
lamps will expire by displaying the following screen.
UV Lamp Reminder:
UV lamp expires soon
UV runs left: CC
ENT: Continue
Beginning 50 cycles before the 1500-cycle limit, the EZ1 Advanced XL will display this screen every
time the instrument is switched on.
CC
indicates the number of cycles remaining. If this number is
0
,
both UV lamps need to be replaced. Contact QIAGEN Technical Services for replacement of the
UV lamps.
5.7.4
UV lamps ignition error
If one or both of the UV lamps fail to ignite, the EZ1 Advanced XL will retry 2 more times. If the
retries do not ignite the lamp, the following error message appears.
ERROR: UV Lamp
UV Lamp did not
ignite
Key: ESC
Contact QIAGEN Technical Services if the lamps fail to ignite.
