CREATING LIBRARIES
This unit su pp o r ts the c r eation of lib r a r ies fo r la r ge-ca p acity USB
sto r age devices, thus allowing catego r izing nume r ous t r acks by
album name, a r tist name, and gen r e, and facilitating smooth t r ack
selection.
Lib
r a r y c r eation, u p dating, and deletion a r e p e r fo r med with the
UTILITY sc r een.
1 Connect the USB storage device on which you wish to create
a library.
2 On the UTILITY screen, select [BROWSE], then select
[LIBRARY (USB1)] or [LIBRARY (USB2)] in accordance with the
device on which you wish to create the library; finally, press
either the down (
 ) button or rotary selector dial.
3 Rotate the rotary selector dial and select the desired
operation [CREATE/UPDATE/DELETE/CANCEL], then press
the rotary selector dial.
4 The screen will change as the selected operation begins;
when the operation is finished, the [Done] message will
appear.
When the database management o p e r ation is com p leted,
disconnect and r econnect all USB sto r age devices.
BACKING UP USER DATA
Info r mation sto r ed in this unit r ega r ding p laylists and disc cue/
loo p p oints can be co p ied to a USB sto r age device, allowing the
info r mation to be t r ansfe rr ed to anothe r MEP-7000.
Begin this o p e r ation with no discs loaded o r USB sto r age devices
connected.
 Writing data to USB storage device
1 Press the UTILITY button.
2 Press the function [GENERAL] button.
3 Turn the rotary selector dial to select [BACKUP MODE], and
then press the select down (

) button or the rotary selector
dial.
4 Turn the rotary selector dial and select [Write to USB], then
press the rotary selector dial.
5 When [Connect a USB storage device to the USB port.] is
displayed, insert the USB storage device to the USB port.
6 The data will begin writing to the USB storage device.
When w r iting is com p leted, [ Done ] will be dis p layed, and the
sc r een will change to the UTILITY sc r een.

Reading data from a USB storage device
1 Press the UTILITY button.
2 Press the function [GENERAL] button.
3 Turn the rotary selector dial to select [BACKUP MODE], and
then press the select down (
 ) button or the rotary selector
dial.
4 Turn the rotary selector dial and select [Read from USB], then
press the rotary selector dial.
5 When [Connect a USB storage device to the USB port.] is
displayed, insert the USB storage device to the USB port.
6 Data reading begins.
When w r iting is com p leted, [ Done ] will be dis p layed, and the
sc r een will change to the UTILITY sc r een.

• Lib r a r y c r eation and u p dating r equi r es inc r easing amounts of
time in co rr es p ondence to the numbe r of files. (As a gene r al
estimate, c r eation of a lib r a r y fo r 5000 files may take about 30
minutes. Additional time may be r equi r ed when c r eating
lib r a r ies fo r a folde r containing a la r ge numbe r of sub-folde r s
and files.)

DELETE Delete a lib r a r y on the USB
sto r age device.
CANCEL Retu r n to UTILITY sc r een.
MEMO
• To inte rr u p t the management o p e r ation midway, hold the
UTILITY button de pr essed fo r one second o r mo r e.
• A lib r a r y can be c r eated with u p to 150 000 t r acks.
• Lib r a r ies a r e c r eated on the USB sto r age device in folde r s
named PIONEER (o r .PIONEER in the case of HFS+).
• When u p dating a lib r a r y, info r mation on deleted o r added
t r acks is u p dated. Revised (changed) t r ack info r mation is not
u p dated. To u p date (change) t r ack info r mation, use of a lib r a r y
c r eation pr og r am is r equi r ed.
NOTE
• C r eation of a lib r a r y r equi r es f r om about seve r al-hund r ed bytes
to 1 Kbyte of sto r age s p ace p e r t r ack.
• U p dating a lib r a r y r equi r es a ppr oximately 2 KB of o p en s p ace
on the device p e r t r ack.
MEMO
• A backu p file named BACKUP.BIN with size of a r ound 1.5
Mbyte will be c r eated in the r oot di r ecto r y of the USB sto r age
device.

media sto r ed in this unit.
NOTE
• Any data sto r ed in this unit will be ove r w r itten, so any
pr eviously sto r ed info r mation will be lost.
