Autoguiding, which involves monitoring the position of a guide star and adjusting the
mount’s position as the star moves, has traditionally be performed using a guider cable
attached to the camera’s guider port and the telescope’s guider port as described above.
Software Bisque’s DirectGuide feature eliminates “relay based” autoguiding. A Paramount
mount, coupled with TheSkyX Professional Edition and the Camera Add On configured to
autoguide using DirectGuide makes guider ports obsolete. DirectGuide details can be found
in TheSkyX Professional Edition User Guide.
Focuser Port (Focus)
Use this port to connect your pulse focuser to the mount so that
TheSkyX Professional Edition
or other
software (using
TheSkyX Professional Edition
as a server) can be used to “remotely” adjust the focuser’s
position.
Plug the pulse focuser into this port, establish communication with the Paramount, then use the
Focus
Controls
on
TheSkyX Professional Edition’s
Telescope
window to adjust focus.
5 Volt Power Jack (5V)
The Instrument Panel port labeled
5V
can supply power for devices that require up to 5W (+5V DC at 1A
max.).
Power to this unfused 2.1 mm female port is
supplied
by the MKS 5000 control system
, so the mount must
be plugged in and turned on for it to be operational. Compatible 2.1 mm male DC power plugs include:
Mouser part number 1710-0721 (no locking collar)
Mouser part number 171-7391 (locking collar)
Attempting to power a device through this port that draws more than 5W
(5V at 1A max.) will cause the MKS 5000 control system to emit successive
beeps, indicating an “error condition.”
The
total
power supplied to
both
the 5V and 12V ports is 12W (+12V DC at
1A max.). When using both ports to power devices, make sure that the
combined power required by each device does not 12W.
If this occurs, the device should be powered using the OEM, or other sufficiently
rated power source.
12 Volt Power Jack (12V)
The Instrument Panel port labeled
12V
can provide power to devices that require up to 12W (+12V DC at
1A max.).
Power to this unfused 2.1 mm female port is
supplied
by the MKS 5000 control system
, so the mount must
be plugged in and turned on for it to be operational. Compatible 2.1 mm male DC power plugs include:
