Connecting the Knee Joint with Ankle Joint
If necessary, the unilateral knee joint can be connected with the unilateral ankle joint via the uni-
lateral system joint bar
(Fig. 6a, 6b)
. For this purpose, the standard delivery for unilateral ankle
joints includes oversize tibial joint bars (with size 1 and 2). The length of the tibial joint bar for the
UL Ankle Joint should be adapted exactly in length to the UL Knee Joint and glued in the lower
part of the knee joint lower part before delivering the orthosis.
Release of the Knee Joint Dummy
To facilitate the release in the knee joint area unscrew the 30Y89 Binding Head Screw and cut
through the knee joint dummy
(Fig. 7)
. When processing the UL Knee Joint simultaneously with
the UL Ankle Joint, please observe Instructions for Use 647G201.
2.3 Maintenance
We recommend that the orthosis is inspected every six months to observe proper function and
wear and, if necessary, to replace the bearing washer
(Fig.1, Item 4)
and bushing
(Fig.1, Item 3)
and check the efficiency of the compression springs
(Fig.1, Item 10)
. Do not lubricate the joint
(bushing and bearing nut) or any other components. If necessary, the joint mechanism should be
protected against dirt by a suitable protective device (e.g. joint protectors) so as to ensure the
smooth functioning of the orthosis.

3 Liability
The manufacturer’s warranty applies only if the product has been used under the conditions and
for the purposes described. The manufacturer recommends that the product be used and main-
tained according to the instructions for use.
4 CE Conformity
This product meets the requirements of the 93/42/EWG guidelines for medical products. This
product has been classified as a class I product according to the classification criteria outlined
in appendix IX of the guidelines. The declaration of conformity was therefore created by Ottobock
with sole responsibility according to appendix VII of the guidelines.
