Place one sheet of original with the surface to be copied face
down into the single sheet document feeder.
Regardless of whether the originals are of vertical or horizontal orientation,
always set originals with their top edge along the back edge of the single sheet
document feeder.
The original is automatically pulled into the feeder and copying begins.
IMPORTANT

•
If the Feeder Auto Start setting (see p. 2-22) is turned off, the original will not be
automatically pulled into the feeder and copied. Press (Start) to begin copying.

The original is delivered back to the single sheet document feeder after it has been
copied. Be sure to remove the original after you are finished copying.

If the original is curled, uncurl it completely before placing it into the single sheet
document feeder.

Removing Paper Jams in the Left Feeder Cover
If a paper jam occurs in the left feeder cover, a screen similar to the one shown
below appears on the touch panel display. Check the location of the paper jam, and
using the screen on the touch panel display as a reference, follow the procedure
described below to remove the jammed originals.
CAUTION

When removing jammed originals, take care not to cut your hands on the edges
of the original.
