6. Configuring and Administering System Properties
6.1 Managing Registry Database
The Nordic ID Morphic has a simple facility for making the changes in the registry permanent, and
on the other hand, for removing the permanent changes from the registry. For example, you make
changes in the registry when you change some attribute of the device property by means of a
control panel applet and after that you close the applet by pressing the ‘Activator’ key. The facility
for managing the registry is called ‘Registry Backup’.
Be aware that clearing the persistent changes from the registry resets the device to its factory
defaults in fact.
6.1.1 Accessing Registry Backup
There are two means of accessing the Registry Backup either using the keypad, or using the
touch-screen and the stylus. The following instructions are based on the use of the keypad. Before
you begin, close all application windows on the screen.
To open the Registry Backup:
1. Press the ’
tab/alt
’ key so that the input focus is set to the Start menu icon on the far left of
the taskbar, in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
3. Press the ‘
Activator
’ key to bring up the Start menu
4. Select
‘
Programs
’ menu item by the ‘
up-arrow
’ of the ‘Navigation ring’
5. Press the ‘
right-arrow
’ to bring up the Programs submenu, ‘NordicID’ submenu is selected
6. Press the ‘
right-arrow
’ to bring up the NordicID submenu
7. Select
‘
Registry Backup
’ menu item by the ‘
down-arrow
’ of the ‘Navigation ring’
8. Press the ‘
Activator
’ key to open the Registry Backup
6.1.2 Closing Registry Backup
If you want to exit from the Registry Backup utility:
1. Select
‘
Close
’ by the ‘Navigation ring’
2. Press the ‘
Activator
’ key; the Registry Backup ends
Or just press the
‘Esc/cancel
’ key.
6.1.3 Making Your Configuration Settings Permanent
If you want to make persistent the configuration you have performed, for example, with the help of
the Control Panel, use the Registry Backup to store them permanently. Before you begin, open the
Registry Backup -utility, see ‘Accessing Registry Backup’.
To make the changes in the registry permanent:
1. Select
‘
Backup Registry
’ by the ‘Navigation ring’
2. Press the ‘
Activator
’ key
3. Wait until the Registry Backup utility informs you that it is finished with the operation. Now
your configuration settings are stored in the non-volatile memory
