Reference Guide for the Model RH340 Internet Access ISDN Router
Troubleshooting
6-9
In order for these applications to function properly with NAT, the router must recognize the
particular application and process it with a specific workaround. The Model RH340 router is
capable of recognizing and functioning with many popular applications such as:
•
NetMeeting
•
CuSeeMe
•
Microsoft PPTP client
•
Microsoft Traceroute
•
RealAudio
•
VDOlive
•
IRC
•
ICQ
•
Quake
If you have problems with an application that is not specifically supported by the Model RH340
router, often you can allow the application to run correctly on one local PC by forwarding all
unmapped incoming packets to that PC. This workaround is done by entering that machine's IP
address as the Local Server in FirstGear’s Advanced Options menu.
Testing the Phone Ports
To test the phone ports, lift the telephone handset when there are no calls in progress. You should
hear a dial tone, and the LED for that phone port should be on. If there is no dial tone, the line may
be configured incorrectly. Check with your telephone company to make sure that your ISDN line
is configured for both data and voice.
Restoring the Factory Default Configuration and Password
The user can erase the current configuration and restore factory defaults by uploading the
initialization file titled romfile0.340, which can be found in the directory in which FirstGear was
installed. This procedure restores the Manager password to 1234 and sets the Manager baud rate to
9600. This recovery method can be used in cases when the Manager password is not known.
To upload romfile0.340, you must enter the router’s debug mode with a serial connection to the
Manager port.
