Introduction
This chapter describes the features of the NETGEAR Model RH340 Internet Access ISDN Router.
About the Router
The Model RH340 router provides connection for one or more PCs to the Internet over Integrated
Services Digital Network (ISDN) lines at a speed of 64 or 128 kilobits per second (Kbps). At these
speeds, you can download video clips, music, or high-resolution color graphics from the World
Wide Web (WWW) and other online services much faster than with an analog modem. The router
supports concurrent data and voice communications, reducing the need for multiple phone lines.
When PCs on the local area network (LAN) need to communicate with other destinations on the
Internet, the PCs transmits requests to the router. The router translates these requests so they
appear to originate from a single PC rather than from a LAN, and delivers them to your Internet
service provider (ISP) for transmission to the Internet.

The Model RH340 router is a high-performance, easy-to-use router that provides a cost-effective
solution for intelligent Internet access across an ISDN line. With minimum setup, you can install
