8.7 High-speed Internet Connection Sharing Problems
•
Check that your Cable/xDSL modem or traditional modem is installed
correctly, your ISP account is operational, and the settings on the Internet
Browser are correct
•
Check the LEDs on the NetBlaster unit and adapter to see if the network is
operating properly
•
You must have an additional IP address for each networked PC or have an IP
sharing device (e.g. SOHOware Broadband Gateway, NBG600) or software
(e.g. SyGate Internet sharing software) for sharing Internet access.
CableFREE provides free SyGate Internet sharing software on the NCF220
and NCF221 Starter kit installation CD-ROM. Read the SyGate manual in
those packages for more detailed information
8.8 Windows NT 4.0 Related Problems
•
After installation, if the CableFREE card has not been initiated completely
before you logon to a Windows NT machine, you will see an error message
‘Can’t find the CableFREE adapter’ when the CableFREE Utility program
starts. Close the utility and re-run it again after 1~2 minutes.
•
Reinstall the service pack after installing the CableFREE driver and the
Network components.
•
For notebook users, always insert the CableFREE PC Card before starting the
NT system. Don’t remove it before shutting down the computer.
•
If you have IRQ, I/O setting problems, follow the steps below:
1.
Find a free IRQ and I/O port in your NT machine
2.
Turn off the computer and install the CableFREE hardware
3.
Insert a startup disk into the floppy disk drive and boot into DOS
4.
Use the CableFREE DOS utility on the CableFREE CD-ROM Ver.2 to disable
the CableFREE card PnP feature
5.
Assign new IRQ, I/O parameters to the CableFREE card using the CableFREE
DOS Utility
6.
Re-install the CableFREE software and the Windows NT service pack
