Chapter 2: Network Configuration
CableFREE offers multiple network configurations to suit your needs. Typical
configurations are as follows:
•
CableFREE PCs connected to a Cable/xDSL modem via NetBlaster
•
CableFREE PCs connected to an existing LAN via NetBlaster
•
CableFREE PCs connected to each other without a NetBlaster
The following sections explain how to setup these network configurations.
2.1 Connecting CableFREE PCs to a Cable/xDSL modem
With a connection between a NetBlaster and an external Cable/xDSL modem, each
CableFREE PC can simultaneously share high-speed Internet access as well as
printers/scanners/files etc. The following illustration shows this type of network
configuration.

In this example, the NetBlaster acts as a bridge between the CableFREE PCs and
the broadband device. To use the NetBlaster in this configuration, you need to
have:
•
an external Cable/xDSL modem with an RJ-45 connector
•
all networked PCs installed with a CableFREE card
•
an ISP (Internet Service Provider) account (with multiple IP addresses if you
want to share the broadband service to multiple PCs)
