42 SOHOware™ CableFREE
5.1 Introduction to the Network Hopper
This feature helps users to switch network environments the easy way. For
example, if you regularly work in two different locations, this utility removes the
need to change network configuration settings manually each time. Network
Hopper does this by remembering up to four networking setups and allowing you
to easily restore them as you change network environments.
In addition, Network Hopper
offers the following benefits:
1.
Saves different network environments for the same network card
2.
Network Hopper
will only prompt for a reboot if your new setup requires it
3.
No need to read network files from the Windows source files whenever
network setup changes are made
4.
If you have more than one ISP (Internet Service Provider) and you have to use
a different domain name server (DNS) for each one, Network Profiles will
change this without requiring a reboot
5.2 Setting up Different Network Environments
When you run Network Profiles for the first time, it will register the file type
“.nsw” as a CableFREE Utility Network Profiles data file. Making your first setup
file is as simple as this:
step1.
Open Network Profiles on the CableFREE utility. In the Network
Adapter drop-down menu, select one of your network adapters. If there
is only one, choose it. If no adapters are listed then you cannot use this
utility. Your NIC may not be properly installed. If the CableFREE
card is not currently on this computer, refer to Chapter 8:
Troubleshooting.
Note: Network Hopper can only detect a Network card that has been successfully
installed.
step2.
Click the Save button. The following screen will open (
Figure 59
).
Save the file with a name of your choosing, but use the extension
“.nsw”. For example “home.nsw”
