3.3.3 Windows NT 4.0 Installation

As Windows NT 4.0 doesn’t support Plug and Play, you need to install the
CableFREE driver manually. The following outlines some important procedures:

step1.

Double-click My Computer, double-click Control Panel

step2.

Double-click the Network icon to open the Network Configuration
dialog box. Select the Adapters tab. Add the CableFREE driver from
the CableFREE Driver Disk for NT 4.0

step3.

Choose your network configuration:

l

For NetBlaster users: enter the same NetBlaster ID (case sensitive) on
each computer

l

For non-NetBlaster users: enter the same CableFREE group name (case
sensitive) on each computer

step4.

Open the Network Configuration dialog box. Click on the Protocols tab
to install the TCP/IP and NetBEUI protocols

step5.

The system will ask for the IP address assignment method. Check
“Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server”

step6.

Remember to reinstall the Windows NT Service Pack after the
installation of CableFREE

step7.

If you use a notebook computer, and a resource conflict occurs, you
need to assign a different I/O, IRQ number to the CableFREE card
manually after restarting the computer. See Chapter 8.3 for more
information about IRQ, I/O number setting

You are now ready to install the CableFREE Utility. Turn to page 26.
