6.2 ION electrode maintenance

out from the liquid junction.
Reference solution outflow
1.
Remove the protective tube from the combined
electrode so that the rubber cap is mounted on
the tip-type ION electrode part.
2.
Remove the rubber stopper from the reference
solution filler port on the top part of the
electrode.
3.
Stand the electrode vertically on a desk or other
horizontal surface, with the bottom of the
electrode (the side with the rubber cap) facing
down. Push the electrode down two or three
times, to make the reference solution seep out
through the liquid junction.
Filling internal solution (inner tube)
The inner tube of the electrode is of an air-tight
construction that allows almost no outflow. Replace the
internal solution (inner tube), however, if the electrode
has been used for a long period of time and only half or
less of the internal solution remains.
(The filling frequency for the internal solution varies
depending on usage and storage conditions, but under
normal use it is approximately once a year.)
