Programmable Current/Voltage Safety Trip Alarm
STA
HLPRG
SEC
TION 7
The tests outlined below provide coverage only for the AO portion of the STA. It is necessary to
perform the proof tests in both Table 7.1 and Table 7.2 if the Analog output is part of the safety
path.
Table 7.2.
STA HLPRG Analog Output proof test steps
Step
Action
1
Bypass the safety PLC or take other appropriate action to avoid a false trip
2
Configure the STA for 2-10V input with broken wire set at 2V
3
Provide an input of 4V. Verify that the analog output is within 2% of 8.0mA
This, in addition to the next step verifies that there are no failures that cause the AO to have more
than 2% error as well as lose linearity
4
Provide an input of 8V. Verify that the analog output is within 2% of 16.0mA
This, in addition to the previous step verifies that there are no failures that cause the AO to have more
than 2% error as well as lose linearity
5
Restore the STA to its original configuration
6
Restore the loop to full operation
7
Remove the bypass from the safety logic solver or otherwise restore normal operation
