Page 3-15-2

CM System User’s Manual

The network port on the access panel connects network management data to co-located
radios and the Telescan network management system. Early-model and 4/8/12DS1 access
panels only accept a uni-directional (RS485) connection. The unidirectional connection
involves setting S2 on the NMU in a master/slave (3-port bridge) configuration. The
high-capacity access panel—MGN8112—accepts a unidirectional or omni-directional
(RS-422) connection. The omni-directional connection is only available on the MLN
7487C, or later, NMU and involves setting S2 to a West/East (4-port bridge)
configuration. Jumpers on the Network Bridge Interface set the access panel as a
unidirectional or omni-directional interface (Page 3-1-2).

The NMU board has seven jumpers and two DIP switches. Figure 3-15-2 shows jumper
and DIP switch locations.
