Special Operating Conditions
High Altitude Correction Device
230 Federal (49 States):
If a vehicle initia lly sold and per­
manently operated at elevations
above 4,000 ft (1,219 m) the basic
adjustm ent of the carburetor and
the setting of idle as well as fast idle
speed and m ixture are corrected
by a MERCEDES-BENZ service
station before delivery. This
adjustm ent has to be reversed if a
vehicle adapted to high altitude w ill
be operated for longer tim es or
perm anently at low er regions.
280 E, 280 CE Federal (49 States):
If the vehicle is in itia lly sold and
perm anently operated at elevations
above 4,000 ft (1,219 m), a high
altitude correction device
(w arm -up-regulator of the injection
system for high altitude) is
installed and idle setting is
corrected by a MERCEDES-BENZ
service station before delivery.
This adjustm ent has to be reversed
if a vehicle adapted to high altitude
w ill be operated for longer tim es or
perm anently at lower regions.
280 E, 280 CE C alifornia:
Vehicles sold in C alifornia are not
equipped w ith a high altitude
correction device. A djustm ent for
high altitude must not be
perform ed.
Vehicles in itia lly sold and
perm anently operated at elevations
above 4,000 ft (1,219 m) in Federal
(49 states) are corrected in idle
setting by a MERCEDES-BENZ
service station before delivery.
This adjustm ent has to be reversed
if a vehicle adapted to high altitude
w ill be operated for longer tim es
or perm anently at lower regions.
