m iles and at a speed n o t to exceed
50 km /h/30 m ph.
To p o sitive ly avoid a p o s s ib ility of
dam age to th e tra n s m is s io n , h o w
ever, w e re co m m e n d to d is c o n n e c t
the drive sh a ft at th e rear axle drive
fla n g e on any to w in g beyond a
s h o rt to w to a nearby garage.

cables (m in im u m ca b le cross sec
tio n is 25 m m 2) and th e (12 V) b a t
te ry o f a n o th e r ve h icle . Proceed as
fo llo w s :
1. T u rn key to s te e rin g lo c k p o s i
tio n 0.
2. First c o n n e c t ju m p e r cables to
the p o s itiv e b a tte ry te rm in a ls and
then to th e negative te rm in a ls.
3. S ta rt and run e n g in e o f ju m p e r
v e h ic le at h ig h idle.
4. S ta rt e n g in e o f th e d isa b le d v e h i
cle in th e usual m anner.
5. A fte r th e e n g in e has sta rte d , firs t
rem ove ju m p e r cables fro m the
n e g a tive b a tte ry te rm in a ls and
th e n fro m th e p o s itiv e te rm in a ls .
In s tru c tio n s :
A d is c h a rg e d b a tte ry can freeze
at a p p ro x . - 10° C /+ 1 4 0 F. In all
cases it m u st be th aw ed o u t before
ju m p e r cables are used.
