Head Timing
Embroidery Head Timing covers these related topics:
•
Headup
•
Needle Depth
•
Hook Timing
•
Hook Gap
The embroidery head must be correctly set to the headup position before adjusting any other
settings. The head must be timed properly to produce quality embroidery.
NOTE:
Headup is a factory setting and should not be changed or adjusted unless the headup
encoder has been replaced. When the headup position is reset with the new encoder, it
should not have to be set again. Before you attempt any changes to headup, check
with your Melco representative for advice.
Needle depth may require readjusting if you hit the hoop with the needle, or change needle sizes,
types, or brand. Changing types of needles or threads can also require resetting the hook gap of
the rotary hook.
Machine Out Of Timing
It is rare for the machine to go out of timing, but the most frequent cause is when the needle
strikes the hoop while embroidering. When this happens the machine stops abruptly, jarring the
mechanical parts.
Even if the machine does not go out of timing, replace the needle after striking the hoop.
If the presser foot and the hoop collide, the presser foot may bend enough to rub the thread or
needle.
