Edge Blending
Edge Blending is a powerful tool in the Maxedia that allows you to adjust the output of the Maxedia to
minimize visible seams between projectors when you are using two or three projectors to display a
single Maxedia output on a single screen. The Edge Blending of projectors is not a one time process.
Much like lighting instruments, it must be "focused" every time the projectors are set up or moved to
ensure a crisp image. The projectors must be hung and focused before starting the Maxedia edge
blending or you will have to repeat the process after the projectors are focused. The output of the
Maxedia should be sent to a Matrox TripleHead2Go to split the signal to your projectors. Alternately,
set you first projector to only look at the first third (or first half, if only using two projectors) of the video
raster, set the second projector to look at the middle third (or second half) of the raster and set the
third projector to look at the last third of the raster.
There are three pages of controls for setting up the Edge Blending, they are accessed by the Width,
Intensity, and Finetune buttons in the upper right corner , or using the < Previous and Next > buttons
in the lower right of the Edge Blending screen.
Starting with the Width page, in the upper left corner, select which Engine you would like to set up for
Edge Blending (selected Engine button will be red) and set the Disable / Enable toggle button to
Enable (Red). Choose the number of projectors that will be used to display that output. You can
select the background you would like to use while adjusting the Edge Blending settings by selecting
one of the 7 buttons immediately below the Width, Intensity and Finetune buttons (Source will play
the output of the Maxedia engine).
The Show Graph button is a toggle to display (Red) or not display (Blue) the graphic representation of
the Edge Blending settings. The red line in the Graph depicts the intensity of the output of each
column of pixels. The blue crosses from one projector and green crosses from the next projector to
it's right should exactly overlap on the projection surface when the Width setting of each edge is
correctly set. This should be displayed for the setup process and then not displayed for all other
operations. The Soft Edge / Hard Edge toggle button allows you to select whither you want the
output of your projectors to overlap (Soft Edge) or not overlap (Hard Edge). The Belt Sensitivity button
allows you to set the sensitivity of the control belts on this screen to Course, Normal, or Fine.
