The BootMode cannot be changed for
a GbE card.
The switch may not be
disabled or it may not be
configured with the correct
License for the desired
operation mode.
1. Use the SwitchDisable command to disable
the switch before changing the BootMode
of a GbE card.
2. Access the Advanced\License subdirectory
and execute the ShowLicense command to
display the current available operation
licenses.
3. If the switch is not licensed for the desired
operation mode contact SANcastle
customer support.
The BBW link is not initializing (i.e.
the Link light is solid green but the
active light is still blinking).
This indicates the BBW
port can transmit and
receive data but has not
established a protocol level
connection.
1. Make sure all IP interfaces on a single
switch are configured with IP addresses in
different subnets.
2. Make sure Autonegotiation is configured
correctly for all BBW ports.
3. Port Mode should be the same for both
switches.
4. Neighbor IP address for each switch is set
to the other switches IP address.
5. Make sure gateway IP addresses are set
correctly if needed.
6. Ensure Fabric settings (DomainID,
B2Bcredits, RA-TOV, ED-TOV) are set
correctly.
The throughput is abnormal or less
than expected across a BBW link.
The GFS needs to be “fine-
tuned” for the distance and
or delay being crossed.
1. If the user knows the round trip line delay
and/or Bandwidth available these settings
can be made when the BBW interface is
configured
2. Call your SANcastle Customer Support
Engineer.
Throughput is fluctuating or is not
consistent.
There may be a problem
with the fiber cable.
1. Make sure the optical connections are clean.
2. Ensure fiber connector is fully inserted into
port.
3. For a BBW port, ensure the Delay and
Bandwidth settings are set correctly and are
the same for both switches.
Instability or errors occur during
switch operation.
There could be a device
incompatibility issue.
1. Isolate the GFS and check for stability and
proper configuration.
2. Isolate the other hardware and check for
stability and proper configuration.
3. Make sure the most current firmware release
is installed on all hardware.
4. Refer to the GFS Product Family User
Manual, Appendix D for interoperability
guidelines.
An ISL between the SANcastle
switch and a third party Fibre
Channel switch is isolating.
E-port with the vendor
switch may not be
supported or may require
special configuration.
Refer to the GFS Product Family User Manual,
Appendix D for information on e-port settings.
