Installation Overview
Please read the Installation Guidelines prior to proceeding with the installation
process.
Installation Guidelines
When determining where to place the switch, be sure to observe these
guidelines:
• For Fibre Channel ports, the maximum cable lengths from the switch to connected
devices are limited to 500 meters.
• For GbE ports, the maximum cable lengths from the switch to the connected
devices are limited to 500 meters.
• For the Out-of-Band Ethernet port, UTP Category 5 cable length from the switch to
connected device is limited to 100 meters (maximum).
• Front and rear panel clearance must be such that:
•
Front-panel indicators can be easily read
•
Access to ports is sufficient for unrestricted cabling
•
Rear-panel power connector is within comfortable reach of an AC power
receptacle
• Airflow around the switch and through the vents is unrestricted.
• Temperature around the unit does not exceed 104
o
F (40
o
C).
