Switch Setup
The GFS-2 switch is factory preset with the switch connection and boot
procedure default values. After installing and powering on the switch, review
these values and make any necessary changes before connecting it to the
Fabric.
Use a terminal emulation application to establish a serial connection to the
switch. The procedure is described in the following subsections.
Establishing a Connection with the Switch
Before powering the switch on, verify that the terminal emulation application
(such as HyperTerminal) is configured with the correct communication
parameters.
To establish connection between the terminal emulation application and
the switch:

Verify that the switch is powered OFF .

Connect the switch serial port to the PC serial port using the supplied RJ-45 to
DB-9 serial cable.

Open HyperTerminal from the Windows desktop:

Click Start , select Programs , and choose Accessories .

Select HyperTerminal . The Connection Description dialog box will appear.
