Verify the Fabric Configuration

Verify the switch status and ISL port status for each switch using the command
path:
\Analysis\SwitchLevel\Status
.

Confirm that each switch role is either “Master” or “Slave.” Only one switch
should be designated as the “Master” switch. All others should be “Slave.”

The ISL ports should display as E-Ports.

Verify that the fabric has the correct number of switches. The command path is:
\Analysis\FabricLevel\Fabric
Power On or Connect the Devices

Power on the storage devices, one at a time, waiting for each device to complete
fabric login before powering on the next. For devices that could not be powered
down, connect them into the fabric now.

After all storage devices are powered on or connected, verify that all storage
devices have logged into the fabric and registered with the Name Server
successfully. Use the
Analysis\SwitchLevel\Status
command path and the
\Analysis\SwitchLevel\Nameserver
command path on the switch to which the
device is connected. Alternatively, SANman can be used if SANman is installed.

Power on the host devices, one at a time, waiting for each host to complete fabric
login before powering on the next.

For hosts that cannot be powered down, connect them into the fabric now.
NOTE:
If zoning is enabled, power on the host devices that belong in the biggest zones first.

After all of the host devices are powered on, verify that all host devices have logged
into the fabric and registered with the Name Server successfully. Use the
\Analysis\SwitchLevel\Status
command path and the
\Analysis\SwitchLevel\Nameserver
command path on the switch to which the
device is connected. Alternatively, SANman can be used if the SANman is
installed.

Record the storage and host device counts. If the device count is known, use the
\Analysis\SwitchLevel\Nameserver
command path to quickly identify if something
goes wrong.
This completes the procedure for powering on the devices.
