Exposure control
The light intensity for the halogen lamp is controlled by controlling the voltage applied from
the AVR section to the halogen lamp (HL) by varying the light intensity data output to the
composite PCB (CPCB) AVR section from the main board HLPWM terminal (varying the
output pulse duty ratio). Due to limits on the volume of light from the halogen lamp, for
exposures above EXP7, the appropriate light intensity is sometimes not attained even when
the voltage applied to the halogen lamp is raised, so the grid bias control voltage (GB REM)
is controlled to lower the drum surface potential and thus obtain the appropriate copy density
with the voltage applied to the halogen lamp lowered.

The intensity of light from the halogen lamp for manual exposure is controlled in the following
manner from the exposure intensity data set with simulation 24 (exposure adjustment).

EXP1 – EXP4
The exposure value slope is calculated from the manual exposure EXP1 (simulation 24-
1) and manual exposure EXP4 (simulation 24-2) settings and the exposure light
intensities for each EXP value are controlled according to this slope.

EXP4 – EXP7
The exposure value slope is calculated from the manual exposure EXP4 (Simulation 24-
2) and manual exposure EXP7 (Simulation 24-3) settings and the exposure light
intensities for each EXP value are controlled according to this slope.

EXP7
The exposure value slope is calculated from the manual exposure EXP7-2 (Simulation
24-4) setting and the light intensity data lowered 5 from that setting as EXP7-1 and the
exposure light intensities for each EXP value are controlled according to this slope.
